What is Clean Truck Check?

Clean Truck Check (CTC) is a California regulatory program aimed at reducing air pollution from heavy-duty vehicles. It is officially called the Heavy-Duty Inspection and Maintenance (HD I/M) Program and is administered by the California Air Resources Board (CARB).

Vehicles that are required to be part of the compliance testing program are diesel trucks, buses and alternative fuel vehicles with with a registered GVWR of 14000 pound or more as well as diesel motorhomes.

There are 2 kinds of tests that can be performed.

Opacity or Smoke Tests are performed on vehicles with a 2012 or older engine.

OBD tests are performed on vehicles with a 2013 or newer engine.

How do you comply with CARB Clean Truck Check?

  1. Create an account on the CTC-VIS portal at: cleantruckcheck.arb.ca.gov

  2. Add your vehicle(s) and pay the annual compliance fee

  3. Get a Clean Truck Check inspection from the very best CARB testers – So Cal Clean Truck Check
